Hello Engineering Explorers!

Make sure your calculator batteries are charged! The next meeting at OSU, Tuesday, 12 February 2008, again travels to main campus (where parking is nearly impossible).
We will gather at 6:00 pm at the USUAL place, Agricultural Engineering, with pizza in room 100, 590 Woody Hayes Dr., Columbus, OH 43210-1058. Please park ONLY in the parking spaces labeled "C/Student." Please sign in.

Promptly at 6:30 pm we'll take a campus bus to Hitchcock Hall, 2070 Neil Ave (at Woodruff Ave). There is NO parking on main campus, so make sure you catch the bus ride over--or be prepared to walk east on Woody Hayes for about 1/2 mile to main campus...

Dr. Betty Lise Anderson is one of OSU's photonics and lasers experts. She will help you design and build a light-emitting diode (LED) circuit that displays three letters of your choice. You will have to make engineering tradeoffs in your designs, and a calculator would be helpful. (If you don't have a calculator we will pair you within a group that does have one.) Filters and polarizers will be available for enterprising engineers who want to experiment with improving the contrast or readability of their circuits. If Dr. Anderson can cram it all in, you may also examine and compare other display types.

We'll be on the bus and back to Ag Engineering by 8:30 pm.

Please send me an e-mail reply gecik.1@osu.edu that you will be attending the meeting by Tuesday morning, 12 February 2008 so that we can order pizza.
